What is a GIFI code?
The General Index of Financial Information (GIFI) is a CRA code set used to report financial statement data on Canadian corporate tax returns (T2). Every line on your Balance Sheet and Income Statement maps to a GIFI code. GIFI Books includes all available CRA GIFI codes codes.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. GIFI Books works entirely offline. An internet connection is only needed for iCloud sync or EFILE submissions in the CRA Edition.
Can I manage multiple companies?
Yes. All editions support multiple companies at no additional cost. Each company has its own chart of accounts, journals, fiscal periods, and tax settings.
What platforms are supported?
GIFI Books launches on macOS. iPad and iPhone companion apps are planned for a later release. There is no Windows or Android version.
Is my financial data secure?
Your data is stored locally on your device and, optionally, in your private iCloud account. Fairknowe does not have access to your financial data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What's the difference between the three editions?
Core covers general ledger accounting, bank reconciliation, and tax tracking. Business adds Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, fixed assets, and audit trails. The CRA Edition adds direct electronic filing to the CRA for T2, T5013, and GST/HST returns.
When will GIFI Books be available?
GIFI Core is in final development and will be available on the App Store soon.
