What is a GIFI code?
The General Index of Financial Information (GIFI) is a CRA code set used to report financial statement data on Canadian tax returns. Every line on your Balance Sheet and Income Statement maps to a GIFI code. GIFI Books includes all 765 CRA GIFI codes.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Current Core accounting workflows work offline. An internet connection is only needed for iCloud sync and Apple services such as the App Store.
Can I manage multiple companies?
Yes. GIFI Core supports multiple companies at no additional cost. Each company has its own chart of accounts, journals, fiscal periods, and tax settings.
What platforms are supported?
The current launch target is Mac. Planned iPhone and iPad companion apps are intended to extend Core workflows across your Apple devices with optional iCloud sync.

What's the difference between the three editions?
The Core Edition covers general ledger accounting, GL-level customer and vendor balance tracking, bank reconciliation, financial reports, GST/HST working copies, printable and exportable T2 Schedule 100/125 GIFI summaries, and T2125 support. The Business Edition is planned to add Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable workflows, fixed assets, and expanded audit trails. The Tax Edition is planned as a certification-dependent in-app upgrade from Core or Business for full T2 and T5013 filing workflows, expanded T2 schedules such as Schedule 50, and direct CRA electronic submission.
When will GIFI Books be available?
GIFI Core Edition is in final development and will be available on the App Store soon.
